Welcome to the CRC 1116 Graduate School

Graduate School

The CRC 1116 Graduate School “Master Switches in Cardiac Ischemia” is an integrated research training program funded by the DFG which aims to promote the next generation of qualified young researchers through outstanding scientific education. The CRC 1116 enables 17 scientific and medical doctoral students to prepare their doctoral thesis in cardiovascular biology and medicine.

To achieve this task doctoral students will pass a structured doctoral training which will be organized through the integrated graduate school. Therefore, the CRC 1116 aims to advance cooperative international research and learning of doctoral researchers in medicine and natural sciences in the context of tightly linked, cooperative research projects and an interdisciplinary training program to investigate the molecular mechanisms which influence cardiac remodeling in the acute and subacute phase after acute myocardial infarction including the complex crosstalk between cardiac and extracardiac cell populations, metabolic adaptation, comorbidities and ischemia-triggered systemic responses.
